Making your own protein shake is a lot tastier than simply mixing your protein powder with water. Of course, you have hundreds of different types and flavors of protein powder these days, but it’s always better when you put your own spin on it.

You can make your own protein shake with or without protein powder. We explain how you can do this so that you can put away a delicious protein shake at home after a hard workout.

Making a protein shake without powder requires a little more creativity. The proteins in the powder come from whey, also known as whey.

When you are going to make a protein shake yourself, you naturally want it to contain enough proteins, we do this by using low-fat cottage cheese. All you need is a blender and the right ingredients!

  1. 200 grams of low-fat cottage cheese
  2. 1/2 banana
  3. 50ml coconut or almond milk (light)
  4. 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
  5. 50 grams of ice
  6. 1 tablespoon stevia (or other sweeteners)

This way you can easily make your own chocolate banana protein shake, but you are of course free to use all kinds of fruit in your protein shake. If you use frozen fruit, you often don’t need to add extra ice. Your protein shake is already cold enough because of the ice on the fruit. Instead of cocoa powder, you can also use vanilla extract, this depends purely on what you like!

Making a protein shake with powder is even easier, you can actually do this with a protein shake supplement and water. Now a protein shake mixed with only water is not always tasty and you can easily and quickly make a tastier version of it.

If you really want your own protein shake with natural flavors, we recommend taking a protein powder without flavor and added sweeteners.

These are often plant-based protein supplements that are completely organic. Pea proteins made from peas are recommended for this. The protein is suitable for vegetarians and also has a high protein content.
